A/C Unit 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hello. I have an A/C unit in my attic and it appears that I am getting a large amount of condensation. There is a drip pan under the unit that is filling up...it actually leaked into one of the closets of a bedroom. There is some PVC coming out of the unit that runs across the attic floor and out of the house down the ground. My questions are a. Should the unit be creating enough condensation to fill a 2" high drip pan in a day or two? and b. How can I determine if there is some problem with the PVC pipes/drainage?

Thanks in advance.

If you are creating that much condensation that only means that your A/C unit is working great. And that you have a lot of moisture in that room. These are all good things. You would worry if you didn't have this. As far as your drain. Make sure all connections are tight and sealed good and not at any point does your PVC pipe run up hill, making sure that it can always run down. As far as testing it, here is what I do since I don't really want to wait at someone's house do see if the drain works or not so I usually fill up a coffee cup or more and force the water into the start of the drain. Just fill up the pan. see if it leaks, and then making sure your PVC drain is not clogged and that the water comes out the other end. If it does you're in business.. If you need more help, please just ask. You can also post a picture here if you think that would help...
