Central Air Conditioning Water Leak 6 Months ago
Dear DIY Guy,

I am beginning to work as an estimator in training with the Tool Timing Babydolls out of St. Petersburg Florida. We will be featured on CBS evening news on June 11th.

My neighbor may be my first sale. Her air conditioning is leaking from the handler. Water is settling underneath her laminate flooring. I plan to shut down the main to look to see if the coil is freezing up and causing the unit to leak. I am also thinking she could have a blocked line.

I have cleaned coils with my son before and was wondering if I could get your input on the possible problem my friend is dealing with for a trouble shooting session.

Her laminate is wet underneath and coming up from the water leak out of the air handler.

Please give me any input you can, as I am currently working on a commission basis and desperately need some income from winning this job for my new estimating position. Also, if we can stop the leaking, does the laminate need to be replaced with new or can we dry out the old and replace with an adhesive? It has a little bowing, but not bad at this point.
Thank you,
Dahlia

Just to make sure the air handler is the unit that blows the cold air and should have a pan under it that collects the condensation with either a gravity drain or pump to get ride of the water.

If the unit is freezing up check to see if you have enough freon. And the blower is working.

As far as the laminate, it's too late. Once it gets wet and is bowing you will have to remove and replace at least the damaged area. Also make sure that the floor under the laminate is very dry.

If you need any more detail or help please feel free to ask me.
