Laminate Floor 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago
I'm puting down a laminate floor. The floor measures 7'w X 11'L
i'm running the boards along the 7' wall. The boards are 54 1/2"long.
I put a full board down first, then a 29 1/2" board to make the 84" mark. Now for the second row, if i use the 25" cut off board from the first row, then a full board (54 1/2" that leaves me with a 4 1/2" piece, that wont look right. What do i do? Thanks Ron.

Hi Ron, The first thing you want to do is not start with a full board. The whole trick here is to stagger the board joints so not at any point will the joints line up to the next row. In vision the full board in the middle and the smaller pieces on the ends, then the next row cut off about 12 inches of a full board and then continue the row. If you can run the floor with the 11 foot wall. This may give you better length options.

Also one of the tricks when laying down a laminate floor is to use as much flooring as you can leaving very little scrap. Also you can read this topic, this should also help you www.askmediy.com/fireboard/New-Questions...ng-Question.html#538

That is a big NO, you would not want to staple down the foam padding. Let it just lay there. If you havent watched my video yet it would be a good idea.. I do point out a lot of tips. On the left menu look under flooring and then installing laminate flooring.

Hi again. Sorry to bother you, but i want to do this job right with minimum waste as possible, because i don't have to much extra product. OK if i start with a full board ( 54 1/2"in the middle, like you told me to do,I'll have about 15" on both ends.Is that ok?
then how do i start the second row. Thank's Ron.

OK, lets say, you did this first row and have a 15" piece left over, now start your second row with that piece and then a full board and so on. No on the third row you will need to start with either a shorter board or longer so you don't start lining up your joints.. If you like I would be more then happy to go over this with you on the phone.. Really not a problem.. Either email me your number or just email me and I will send you over my number..

Regards... Dominick

PS not a pain, LOL I love helping people..
