Moss on my roof??? 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I have a good amount of trees around my house so needless to say leaves and things fall onto my roof. On a few parts of my roof there are some small patches of moss forming. How do I get rid of this? How would I stop this from happening again? Should I get up on the roof and scrape it off? Should I just spray it with something and hope for the best? Please help me!

The easiest way to clean moss off of your roof is get a plant sprayer and mix in a good cleaner, I like the oxygen bleach clearer found in any Home Depot. Spray a nice amount on, let is soak in for a about 15 minutes. Then with a medium stiff brush, brush the roof like if you were cleaning heavy dirt off of your car. Then rise with a hose. All done.

To keep the moss off, I would suggest perhaps removing some trees to let more sun light in. As well you can add some cooper flashing to the top line of your roof. Just under the shingle tabs. This way when it rains a small amount of cooper gets caught in the rain and acts as poison to the moss or algae.

Hope this helps. Please let me know how you make out…

Dominick! You are the MAN! I never knew that about the cooper. I would hate to take out the trees. They keep my yard nice and cool with a great amount of shade. I will be getting cracking on this next weekend. I will let you know how I make out. Thanks again buddy!
