Some floors now and like the one I installed in the video come with the padding attached already, cool deal. It makes it that much easier. Figure out what direction you want to run it and find and start with the longest wall. This is usually the straightest one. Lay a full pieces down end to end and start connecting. Make sure you leave about 1/4 inch at the wall ends. This is very important because this is a floating floor and it needs room to expand. Now on the second course you will want to start with a half board, this way you start to stagger the boards where you wont have any two ends meet. Now the third course. Start with a 1/4 of a board. Now you can start all over with a full one. You'll get the hang of it by now. Usally you will be installing this with the base trim already in place. You can either remove and reinstall the trim and use what is called 3/4 1/4 round. This is a small trim that will cover up the ugly ends of the floor and is rather easy to install. This should get you dam close of being done. If you feel at any time you need more detail please just ask me. Laminate flooring is rather simple to do bt some times we just need a little help.

Hi Dominick,
I'm just taking the old carpet out now and I have a couple of quick questions, if you have a moment. First, Taking out the tackboards is leaving some dents in the slab. Am I doing it wrong? I'm prying out the nails holding down the tackboards with a prybar. I'm going to have to fill those in. What should I use? Second, I have a short hallway connecting to a large room that I'm going to do completely in laminate. Should I start lengthwise in the hallway and continue on into the room all the way across, or should I change directions once I get to the room? I'm just wondering if the length of the runs will be problematic from the hallway all the way across. I'm wondering if I need a threshold there. Thanks again, Dan written by Dominick, July 24, 2008
If that's a job offer to be on TV I'll take it, LOL thank you so much. That really does mean a lot to me... Dominick

When laying laminate floor in long runs it's best to have another helper to help locking them in, or just take your time and go slow.
