You may be surprised at the many types of caulks and sealers available.  There are som many different types and colors of caulk it can drive you nuts and even more so if your trying to get the right one for your project. Each type is formulated for a particular purpose. All you really need to know is what type you need. Read below as I discribe the different ones and it's uses.

Painter's caulk:The cheapest caulk in the store. Painters caulk is mainly used for filling in caps and cracks in walls and trimming. Used mainly in my field when you have a long cap in painted base trim.  And is always latex base for easy clean up.

Siliconized latex: Very durable, latex caulk with silicone. Available in colors and clear
100% silicone. This is the caulking that you would use to caulk around a sink, bathtub, counter tops. This type of caulk is great, it stays very flexible but can not be painted. if you try to paint over it, the paint will just fall right off like some kind of magic.

Roof repair caulk: Convenient butyl rubber/asphalt formulation for sealing flashing, roofing, skylights. comes in black or silver works great for what it is. Cleans up with mineral spirits or laqare thining.
