deckflashing.jpegWay important. Do it right the first time and you save some big bucks in only a few years or less. In the picture you see here is just a tin flashing. With the new codes we have to use copper flashing because of the metals used in the new pressure treated lumber. If you notice any white spots on the wood, no it's not mold, it's the copper coming out of the wood and is very normal and will was away...

Installing a basment sump pump

User Rating: / 1

Installing a sump pump is something the average home owner can do. The hardest part is making the hole in the concrete floor.

First I think it's better if you understand why you're going to install a pump. Most basements have a 4 inch concrete floor with another 4 inches of stone under that. Before your basement floods the water will flood the stone, now that's a lot of water and way before you see a drop.

Watch a video on how a basment sump pump works and why.

How to sweat copper pipe

20000401_soldering_copper_page001img001.jpgSure you can do it. I'll help you

First make sure if your doing a repair make sure you get all the water out. Trust me there is nothing worst then tyring to heat a fitting up when there is water inside the pipe/fitting. I like to cut the pipe open then use a coupling to put that area back together. Sweating copper is real easy, it only seems hard. A few things to always know.
