20000401_soldering_copper_page001img001.jpgSure you can do it. I'll help you

First make sure if your doing a repair make sure you get all the water out. Trust me there is nothing worst then tyring to heat a fitting up when there is water inside the pipe/fitting. I like to cut the pipe open then use a coupling to put that area back together. Sweating copper is real easy, it only seems hard. A few things to always know.

  • Always clean your fittings well, I use sand paper
  • Use flux ON BOTH ENDS, pipes and fittings.
  • Make sure fitting is all the way in.
  • Heat the fitting not the pipe.
  • Then use the solder, only a little. To much is a waist.
  • Right after your done with that joint, use a clean rag and wipe around the solder.

NEVER EVER touch or move the pipe or joint while it is cooling. If you do it will leak.

My very first video, Oh boy.. I will make a new one just as soon as I can.

vent pipe
written by Dominicka, September 09, 2008
Yes you can, most vent lines look just like a waste line but upside down. Many bends, turns and fittings. Just always remember to always point everything upwards. Never ever let it point down anywhere. Other wise rain water could block your vent.

Plumbing vent pipe
written by Larryd2, September 09, 2008
Does a sewer vent need to be straight up or can I put elbows in a sewer vent to go across above a ceiling to be able to dump it out under an eve? Cannot get to outside wall from the partial basement....
