This really depends on how good you are at taping it.  I mean it is a garage..  But removing them and reusing them would be not easy unless you screwed them down.  But all in all, it may be easier to just leave them and don't tell anyone..

How is the easiest way to fix a long patch next to a wall with popcorn texture?

The pop corn is the issue here. It would be best to remove the pop corn first by wettig it down. Use water in a spray bottle, let it soak in for a few minutes then using a putty knife you should be able to scrape it clean.

What you need to do is locate the area where it is loose. You will have to use screws or dry wall nails and make the joints nice and tight again.  Not doing this, the crack will always come back.

We removed the soffit in the kitchen and exposed dangling sheet rock on the ceiling where it was literally broken up to make room for the 6" hood vent fan pipe. What's the correct way to close up the hole before we build a box to go around the pipe?

Most corners will have what's called a corner bead. This made of thin metal. So as long as that's still ok you can just use some spackle with a 6" taping knife. Give it a few coats and you should be all god.

we are thinking about buying a house that about 60% of the house has had foundation repaired and there is paper work to state work was done but in the bedroom that was freshly painted there is a large crack in the sheet rock is that  telling us the house still has foundation problems, or what caused the crack

I wouldn'y worry too much about the crack.  Here's the BIG question. Why was the foundation repaired and how much was the repair. And who said it needed to be repaired ?

How old is the house ?

What is the foundation ? Poured / block ?

See if a building inspector said it needs to be repaired that would mean he would also come back to inspect it. Pass or fail. So you may want to check with the building department as well.

Sure you can paint over it. However you would want to use some spackle to cover up where the paper came off.

true to idiot form, i installed non moisture resistant sheet rock on the bathroom wall (behind sink) i also installed them backwards, brown side out.  when i initially opened up the wall there was no sign of mold or wet areas.  how bad of trouble am i in?  should i tear down and replace the finish or seal the wall with a high grade primer and call it good?

Yea I would remove and re-install it the right way. However a vapor barrier is really not needed at all. Put it this way I've been building for a very long time now and I have never ever installed a vapor barrier in any bathroom including my own house 13 years ago and it's all good today. Bath rooms are a funny thing. A exhust fan is the best tool to have.
