			<title>What to do</title>

<description>Thank you very much. With older house's blown in insulation is the only way to go. When installed properly it is quite effective for attics floors and walls. There are two ways to go about installing this. One, by drilling a 2 inch hole on the interior side walls up high about three inches from the ceiling. Filing the whole cavity between the studs and of course all around windows and doors. Or you could just drill the clap board from the outside. But either way you will have to patch and paint. For a better job I would say work from the inside, but wow what a mess it can make.

As far as your crawl space. What I do with something like this is use long poles to stuff regular fiberglass insulation in place, if you can. - Dominick</description>

			<title>A few insulation questions</title>
			<link>http://www.askmediy.com/Insulation/-what-s-the-difference-/Sealing-your-house.html#comment-38</link>
<description>First off, thanks for putting together this site. You've got some really good advice on here. If you don't mind, my questions are as follow:

1. We bought an old 1920 farmhouse this year. The attic leaks like crazy, and I'm trying to figure out what the best solution is for insulating it. What's the best way to insulate under attic decking? I'm concerned that the insulation will be crushed under there.

2. What's your opinion of blown-in insulation in walls? We've got clapboard on the outside and I'm thinking of removing boards next summer and forcing insulation in there.

3. Half of our basement is a crawlspace with really low clearance. (as in 6-8&quot;) That part of the foundation is fieldstone and it leaks significantly. Is there any way to insulate this?

Thanks a lot!
