Using A Router Using A Router

Learn how to use wood router the right way. There are so many bits you can use. Each and everyone has it's own purpose. Some are for trimming, molding or just to make nice fancy edges. Read below and I'll show you the differences.

First thing to know is that there are also many different types of routers and horse power to choose from.  Of course each one has it purpose and particular uses.  One thing many people get confused over is that a router is a router and trimmer is a trimmer.  Two different tools; two different uses.

Router bits come in either 1/4" or 1/2" shanks.  Which to use mainly depends on the size of the bit you are using.  Trimmer bits come in either 1/8" or 1/4" sizes.  Most trimmers are used for finer things like when trimming laminate.  Trimmers usually spin faster than a larger router.  In this video, I explain how to use a larger router with a 1/2" shank bit.
