Most garages only have one or two outlets at most. But let’s be serious now. Why would a builder only install one outlet ?. Simple, because he’s only doing what the minimum code requires.
We have a choice here. We could either open the walls up and start running wires and installing boxes. Or we could surface mount outlets with metal boxes and conduits. It’s way easier to surface mount. Hey, let’s face it, it’s a garage right. I don’t think anyone of us would like this inside our house.
Just remember, if the breaker was 15 amp, install 15 amp outlets. If it is a 20 amp breaker, use 20 amp outlets and the correct GFCI outlets.

I’m really enjoying your videos. They are all right to the point. A question for you. I’m adding a 20 AMP circuit to my new garage. I want the power coming in from the new 20 AMP circuit 12/2 , that I ran from my breaker box to begin at a 3 way switch by the door for two over head lights. Can I run that 20 AMP power (always hot)off that 3 way switch to feed 2 quad duplex outlets over a new workbench and 3 single duplex outlets along the wall as well, from that 3 way switch? The other 3 way for the overhead lights will be on the other end by the roll up door.
Great Video! Can’t wait to get to work! Quick question. Due to some things I have already done to my garage, I’m thinking about running from my garage door opener outlet. I know code is that everything except ceiling outlets in a garage needs to be gfi. I don’t want to climb on a ladder every time the gfi trips… Would it work if I had my 1st outlet off of the ceiling outlet my gfi? Then run from that one to add the others? Would that fit code and work period? Sorry if this is confusing…

2 – You installed a duplex at the end of the line. Is wiring that the same as wiring a single?
Why did you end up with 3 ground wires? Couldn’t you just the ground wire from one of the romex that you ran through the conduit? Would I have to use 3 as well?
What if i wanted to use a singleoutlet with 2 USB ports?
I want to move an outlet from behind my bed to an open area about 3-4 ft away. Can I use your method? Its an apartment so I can’t cut into the wall.
You always need the three wires. Yeah sure you can add one with USB ports anywhere. As far as moving that one outlet I would just use a cord being that you don’t own the house.
