Tileboard is great and should be used whenever you’re installing tile on either wall, floors, and yup you guessed it, ceilings. When tile board gets wet that’s all it gets, is wet. When sheetrock gets wet. Well, that’s a whole different story. The sheetrock will just fall apart and not ever mention the mold.

Cutting is easy. You have a few choices here. You can score it with a scoring tool or use a special saw blade as I do in this video. But wow, talk about dust. However, it makes a much nicer cut.

Use screws to secure the tile board. They do make special screws and they’re well worth it. Yes, they cost a few bucks more. Some installers will use construction glue as well as screws. Do I ? not really. It really depends on the framing, the span between the studs, or whatever. But as long as you use good screws and lots of them you’ll be fine.
