Hello, I am replacing my fireplace and have a 2-3inch gap between the backboard and the chimney breast. How do I fill this gap please. Thank you

Hi, the old fire surrounding was a wood frame and marble insert.

By the picture I would say just either fill it with concrete or better yet a fire proof spray foam.
