Hi Dominick, Someone installed a window for 2×4 construction in a 2×6 wall. Window dimensions: 24″l. x 12″h. The curved jamb is 2.5″w and I have a 2″ gap to the wall surface. I have the moulding for curved section. I thought of applying a veneer to the curved section and let 2″ of it be floating. Tried bending a 2″x36″ piece of PVC wood into position but that was difficult to line up the edges. It’s 9′ high, so slight mistakes won’t be noticed. Any idea of how to finish it off? Easy, and boy oh boy I’ve done this one too many times lol. You have three options.
First, and the one I like to try first. Go to a real lumber yard with your window measurements and ask for an extension jamb. Yes, they do make them.
Second. Use steam and bend 1/4″ plywood strips. And glue them together. Works really well.
And lastly, sheetrock it. Simply wet some 1/2″ sheetrock, bend, and let dry. Then install. But I’m thinking that’s not the look you’re going for.
