In this video, I explain just how easy it is to add a three-way switch to an existing single pole (one) switch lighting circuit. Now if you are trying to install a completely new 3-way circuit please my video with an article on how to install a three-way. Otherwise, this may confuse you a little.
Even if you hire an electrician to do the job for you. You can still save a few bucks by installing the wire yourself. I mean that’s the hardest part of this.
The hardest part will be running the 4 wire from the existing switch to the new one. Take a look at my video and ask any questions if you need help.

Thank You, that was nice and simple, gave me everything I needed.
Awesome, glad I could help you out.
Thank you
I have a single switch controlling a lite direct, power source is through the switch, how do I tie the 14/3 I have ran for 2nd switch location to where no need for rerouting the wire to the lite from second switch?
Watch my video on how to install a 3 way switch to a existing one way.
I have a 3way line from switch to light, but only one switch how can I hook the light up to work. Don’t know what to do with the red line
You’ll need a four wire from switch to switch. Than watch the video again. It should be very clear.
Thanks, A wiring diagram is great lesson :)
Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.
A wiring diagram for this “how to” would be extremely helpful.
Thanks
Thank you so much. I posted the same diagram that I have on how to wire a three way. This page is how to add a three way to a exiting circuit. https://www.askmediy.com/how-to-wire-a-3-way-switch-with-video/ Thanks again..
