Installing a smart switch is so easy anyone can do it.
The most important thing to know if you have a neutral wire in your light switch box. I mean you should, but that’s not always the case.
A picture is worth a thousand words as they say, so take a look at the diagram below.
Always make sure you turn the breaker off for the circuit you’re working with.
Step 1 Not all, but must smart switches will require a neutral “white” wire in the box. You should have one.
Step 2 Remove the old switch. Take a picture of of the wiring to the existing switch before you remove any wires
Step 3 This is the easy part. Just connect the ground to ground, black to black, and the red from the switch to the other black. Well, it should be that easy. Please leave a comment or any questions and I’ll be right here to help you further.
Here is a direct link to Amazon to buy this awesome switch used in the video. https://amzn.to/2GdxyHN This is also a dimmer switch. Works with Alexa (Amazon) or what I use here with Google Home.

All the wiring for a smart switch appears to be correct, but lights blink and won’t stay on.
Try changing the bulbs to regular ones. Chances are you have LED or fluorescents
Thanks, I changed bulbs, no change.
Hmm, what brand and model# is your switch?
Kasa Dimmer Switch
A quick thought here. Are you using a neutral wire?
Yes I’m using a neutral wire. There two clusters, I tried swapping the clusters. With one there is no power, the other there is power, lights still blink.
Either the neutral you’re using isn’t really neutral, yes this does happen or the switch, just isn’t good.
