I moved into an old house that has a 3 way light switch that is improperly wired so when you turn the light off with one switch you cannot turn the light on with the other switch.
I corrected the hot wire location on one switch but that didn’t fix the problem. I also noticed that neither had a ground wire attached to the switch. One doesn’t seem to have a ground wire in the box at all. Could that be the problem?

No not really. However something is still not wired right. Being that it’s an old house I would replace the switches.
