I bought a 4 wire 50 amp receptacle for a new range. The wires leading from the panel have 2 black + white + ground. I expected red black white ground. Do I need to differentiate the 2 black wires so they are hooked up to the receptacle correctly?

You would use the blacks for the hots. The white is the neutral
