EXTERIOR ELECTRICAL OUTLET

HELLO,
I AM INSTALLING SOME LOW VOLTAGE LIGHTING OUTDOORS ON MY DECK. I AM USING A 300 WATT TRANSFORMER THAT SAYS IT CAN BE PLUGGED INTO ANY OUTLET TO POWER THE VARIOUS LIGHTS AROUND THE DECK. I DO NOT HAVE A CONVIENENT PLUG CLOSE TO WHERE THE TRANSFORMER WILL NEED TO BE INSTALLED. MY QUESTION IS: CAN I CONVERT THE EXTERIOR LIGHT THAT IS WIRED TO A SWITCH INSIDE, TO A PLUG THAT THE TRANSFORMER CAN BE PLUGGED INTO? THAT WAY I CAN FLIP THE SWITCH INSIDE AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DECK WILL TURN ON. SINCE I WILL HAVE ALL THE LIGHT FIXTURES AROUND THE DECK, I WILL NOT NEED THE CURRENT SINGLE LIGHT NEXT TO THE DOOR, THAT IS WIRED TO THE BREAKER.
THANKS,
BRAD

Sure you can and that’s a great idea. It’s just the matter of removing the light and installing a weather protected GFCI outlet. However it will be kinda high. I would just run a wire from the existing light down the wall to the new outlet. But since it’s an outside wall it may not be all that easy.
