Please briefly explain why you feel this question should be reported.

My house was built in the 50’s. Under the front porch there is a fruit cellar that we do not use and is smelly and damp. Can I just remove the door and block up the opening? Is there any chance of a  future problem with water, etc.? If I ever redo the front porch I would fill it with slag or something. But I have no plans to do that yet. Thanks…Jim

    Hi Jim, yeah I would say you can do that, as I’ve many times. But seeing a picture would be helpful. Installing a few small vents would be a good idea. Maybe one on each side. Kinda, air in, air out.
