Hi Dominick,

My wife likes to call me “handyISH” and this time I think she is right.   I may have bit off more than I can chew.  I gutted my Bathroom, took out a tub from 1930, and I am replacing it with just a shower.

Your video is fantastic by the way! It looks like I can do it.  But there are some questions for people like me, mostly it is about supplies like what brands do you use?

1. What is Sand Base Mortar and what is the mix made of, sand and what else?

2.  Do you recommend one lining over another?

3.  How low do I bring my tile board down to the shower pan?

I think that’s it.

Thanks for your help!

Well lets prove her wrong ok.

First off the sand mixture is a mortar based sand. Just add water and go. Read the bag you buy to make sure it’s that kind. But really a mortar is just fine.

Just make sure you buy a liner and not some cheap thin thing.

You would bring the tiles right down on top of the floor tiles. I like to leave a little cap for grout.
