I have a switched outlet in my bedroom. I would like to add an outlet approximately 5 feet up the wall from that existing outlet for a wall hung tv. Is it a simple tie in to the existing outlet or is it more complicated due to the switch?

No it’s very simple. However you want to change that outlet from being switched. That I’m about to make a video on. That you may want to wait for.
