My daughter bedroom had no blow in insulation between the studs if the attic floor. For the winter I laid down unfaced fiberglass within the studs and then again across the top of the unfaced fiberglass insulation. My question is this. Should either of the insulation been faced? If so which one and the direction? I live in a suburb outside Chicago if that help with the climate.

The vapor barrier / Paper will always face the heated area. Direction doesn’t matter.
