the wire coming into my trailer house has 4 wires
red, black, white and a copper
the old outlet had 3 slots two angle and one tee and the coper wire was not hooked up anywhere that i could tell, it was tucked down into all the coated wires, do i need a 4 wire plug or a three like the old one? I bought a new one at the hardware store {LEVITON 5054} I think this is wrong because my breaker trips as soon as I turn it on. Which wall outlet do I need? 220 volts and the breakers outside are 50 amps.

You need to use a 4-wire outlet for your dryer. The 4 wires are red, black, white, and copper. The old outlet having only 3 slots might not have been configured correctly, which could explain why your breaker trips when using the new outlet. Ensure that the wiring is correctly connected to the new outlet and that the copper wire is properly grounded as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Make sure to consult a professional if you are unsure about the wiring or installation process.
