Drywall repair backing up to an outlet

we just bought a new home and are finding quite a few surprises. I just repaired a corner – thanks to your video and Straight-Flex. We found a hole with a poorly made patch imidiately below an outlet. Can this be repaired with a drywall patch? Just not sure how to tape on the side shared by the outlet. The top of the hole is the outlet and the left side is agains a stud.

The best way would be to cut the hole cleaner, insert two small boards screwed to the existing sheetrock and then a sheetrock patch screwed to the boards you just installed and then tape.
