Ever need to install a mini split AKA heat pump on an interior wall?
Well, let me tell you I have and many times. It was the only option. When you install them on an exterior wall it’s pretty simple, you just push the line set and the drain line right to the outside. And let gravity take over.
But on an interior wall, you need to find another way. Now the pictures here are on the second floor, why does that matter you may ask? simple, because on the first floor, you could always go right down in the basement or crawl space and then outside from there.
So, always place the unit close to an exterior wall. On this one, it was only about five feet away. I just removed the sheetrock and drilled some holes in the studs and right out of the side of the house. Like they say a picture is worth a thousand words. I hope this helps you out.
When installing a mini split on an interior wall, finding a drainage solution becomes crucial. Unlike exterior wall installations where gravity can handle the drainage, interior walls require a different approach. If you have access to a basement or crawl space, you can route the drain line to the outside easily. In cases where the unit is on a higher floor, like the second floor, it may be necessary to remove sheetrock, drill holes in the studs, and guide the drain line out through the side of the house. Remember, it’s important to position the unit near an exterior wall for convenient drainage.
